I worked on this project for a couple years as the Art Director, 3D modeler, Twitch streamer, UI/UX department, and even as one of the managers and founders. I had my hands on creating the aesthetic look and feel of all the characters alongside a talented art team, and handled all the UI/UX decisions myself as I worked with our engineers to implement them into the Unreal Engine.
General flow
I wanted to really map out how the game flowed from one screen to the next here, focusing on the flow from logging in, to clicking on menu buttons, to ultimately viewing Options and Social screens. While this didn’t cover everything, it allowed me to dig into how items felt while hovered on, and even the popups that would appear when clicking on a player’s icon.
Hero flow
The hero screen had no design documentation, so it was up to me to figure out what kinds of features this screen may have, and how in-depth it would go. I settled on quite a few features, even small videos of characters using their abilities that could be embedded in the game itself, much like League of Legends.
In game load out
These screens may look a little rougher, as they are wire frames over in-game footage. I wanted to allow the players to have their custom load outs to choose from, hero info easily accessible, and every item they might need at their fingertips. I experimented with having a lot of player choices here, too many, in fact that this work ended up being scrapped in favor of a simpler screen altogether.
